New deadline: February 28th 2019
The Hacker Porn Film Festival will take place 24-30 April 2019 in Rome. The festival is independent and self-financed, and through a selection of queer and post-porn movies, together with live performances, talks and workshops, aims at exploring the several imageries related sexuality and non conforming bodies. During the entire length of the festival, the venue 30Formiche will host an art exhibition focused on the theme ULTRABODIES.
This call is an open invite, towards every kind of visual artist, to trespass the binaries of heteronormativity.
Participants can submit two kinds of proposals:
• One or more artwork for the official poster of the festival (digital file with 300dpi resolution, A3 format).
The poster will be promoted through social medias and in the streets in paper, so explicit sexual elements are forbidden.
• One or more artwork (digital file with 300dpi resolution, free format) for the exhibition that will take place during the festival.
These works are free of any restriction.
Our proposal to the artists is to challenge the normative perception of the vast spectrum of sexuality through artworks realized with any preferred technique, with the aim to investigate bodies and their infinite expressive possibilities. We would like the artworks to mirror and accompany the festival’s ongoing research on the cultural and social construction of pleasures and sexual identities, to dream together of territories and geographies that are still unchartered, far away from genders, borders, and even far from the human form.
This is an invite to find a way to represent that unnamable queer value that still escapes from the meshes of language and control; an invite to subvert and dissolve imposed categories; an invite to explore the alien, the cyborg, abjection, porosity, prosthetics, the resistance acted by bodies towards borders and boundaries.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE
Participation is free of charge.
Requested materials for application:
• A short artist bio.
• At least one artwork realized with any technique and sent in digital format at the email address info@hackerpornfest.com within the 10th of February 2019 28th of February 2019.
JURY
The poster and the artworks for the exhibition will be chosen by a jury composed of Sarah Di Nella, Francesco Mirabelli (QUEEF Magazine), Rita Petruccioli (illustrator and curator of SelfARF!), INKastri Mentali (illustrator and author of the festival’s logo), Renato Loriga (Hacker Porn Film Festival – HPFF).
RIGHTS
The authors of the submitted projects are the only rightholders of their artwork, and they are the guarantor of its originality. By participating to this call, authors implicitly accept the rules of the call and the promotional use of their artworks for the festival.
During the festival, with previous agreement between the curators and the author, some copies of the artworks will be put on sale, and a percentage of the revenue will go to the author.
